FAQs

What is Chickenpox?

Chickenpox are red spots with fluid vesicles that itch violently and could be painful. They spread over the body, but are also found inside the mouth, on the scalp and in and around the genitalia. Chickenpox are caused by an infection by the Varicella Zoster virus. The virus resides inside the throat and nose of an infected person and is transmitted by tiny droplets in the air when coughing, sneezing and talking. Contamination can also occur through direct contact with the moisture of the vesicles. The time between infection with the chickenpox virus and the emergence of the first vesicles is two to three weeks.

Is chickenpox contagious?

Chickenpox is a highly contagious, but benign disease that occurs mainly in infants and children between 1-8 years. In some cases, chickenpox occurs in adults. The infectious period begins the day the rash appears and lasts until the vesicles have dried up. The illness takes about 10 to 12 days to run its course. Preventing infection with the virus is difficult to prevent, because the contamination has already entered into force before the disease symptoms occur. You can easily treat chickenpox at home using HeltiQ ChickenPox.
